Jim joined Lionstone as a Principal in 2008.  He is responsible for Capital Markets strategy across Lionstone and serves on the Investment Committee. 

Jim’s thirty-two year career in business and law includes 20 years as a tax and transactions partner with Baker Botts LLP, 7 years as Head of Capital Markets for Hines, and the CEO of an Internet start-up incubated by Goldman Sachs (where he worked closely with Lionstone Founding Partners Tom Bacon and Dan Dubrowski) and of a bioscience firm that sought to commercialize patented food processing technology.  In his real estate and related legal career he has been involved in the underwriting, acquisition, financing and disposition of billions of dollars worth of real estate on three continents. 

Jim graduated in 1974 with a BA degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, and a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1976. 

He is also the published author of a series of mystery novels.
